I had high expectations having read the glowing reviews written by other patrons. So, I enthusiastically ordered 2 bottles of the inspired Comme, Avignon Incense Series. Sadly, both reproduction completely lack the full-bodied long lasting attributes of the original with Palermo's aromatics dissipating almost immediately after application. Palermo's lacks the smoky resinous heart of the original, which when initially applied dramatically explodes with incense and myrrh, then widening to become rich and smoky. The original then, later, calms considerably, drying down on the skin to remain a complexity of woody incense notes with a hint of vanilla on the periphery. Unlike the original, the afore mentioned qualities in Palermo's version are extremely superficial, lacking at the he start and short-lived life of the fragrance.
Avignon should be cool, deep and dignified. It is not something you apply without second thought.Palermo's version is insipid and resolves into a salty, dead flower-like scent. Terribly disappointing
